From the time you arrive and each month that follows there are so many things to do. One of our most favorite places to walk is the trails of Jordan's Pond. Jordan's Pond is one of the many walking trails of Acadia National Park. This national park is located on Mount Desert Island, when traveling to this part of Maine these are must see locations.
What a find! ❤❤ |
The views all around the pond are so beautiful. This is a walking trail, but sometimes you need to slow down and look around. Most people don't see or recognize things like beaver cut trees, and pond side beaver huts.
Parts of the trails are very easy walking, but there are other parts which can be a little more challenging.
There are days when David and I venture out on our own to find a good trail...
...Then there are the Friday Walks with Debbie! Debbie is one of the owners here at Timberland Acres RV Park and she does a GREAT job at planning events for those staying here at the park.
Every Friday we load up in the van and off we go to find a nice place to walk, generally a couple of miles, or so.
Wild flowers along the waters edge. |
Hancock Point |
Along this part of the water's edge you are treated to finds of ocean glass. Debbie grew up in Maine. During her childhood, she would spend time with her grandparents walking these same water's edges, looking for ocean glass.
Our weekly calendar has some regularly scheduled items, such as Mondays - exercise class, Tuesday - Yoga time and Thursday we gather for crafts, knitting and crochet time. This is visiting time for the ladies.
In addition to the items on the calendar, Debbie also plans Day Trips to various locations in Maine. This is a great way to learn about the different places within the state. Here are some of our day trips.
Sea Princess Cruise & Asticou Lunch:
Boarding the Sea Princess |
Parts of the waters were heavy in fog and others, clear as a buoy bell.
After a long day on the water, we're off to lunch at one of our favorite locations.
Lunch at Asticou Inn is always a delight. I usually order the Spinach Sun-Dried Tomato Quiche, which comes with a salad. But, you can't come here without ordering their famous Popovers, served with butter and blueberry or strawberry jam. YUM!!!!
A day at Woodlawn Museum in Ellsworth:
Let's Go Shopping - Day Trip to Freeport:
Freeport, Maine is well known for its Outlet stores, but even more for the LL Bean Flagship store. This location is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!
After a day of shopping you have to try Linda Bean's Restaurant which is located on the same street. Great food and good prices.
Crocker House Dinner:
The Crocker House is a lovely country Inn, in Hancock, Maine, and it's fine dining restaurant and lounge are open to the public. It always has wonderful local cuisine, including fish and steaks.
In our next blog we'll tell you some more things we do to keep busy, at the RV park and around Maine.
