In March we left Onalaska, Texas and headed to Waxahachie, Texas. You may be asking why, or where, is Waxahachie. Before our visit I had never heard of the place either, but David has a very good friend and former co-worker, Jerry Smith, who has a ranch there with his brother, Steve. It is about 29 miles South of Dallas. They were kind enough to invite us to come for a visit and stay at the ranch. Jerry and his wife Stacy, along with Steve and his wife, Sharmin, were extremely kind in providing a place for our rig, in one of the pastures. It was great for
David to catch up with Jerry and I truly enjoyed everyone's company.
While staying at the ranch we were also introduced to Eve and one of her sons, Beau. Eve lives on the property in one of the family houses. What a wonderful and extremely educated attorney she is. Beau, her son, is in high school and is very informed as to all current events and has his own opinon about everything. Beau has no problem letting you know he is not too keen about liberal minded people. Just listening to him and his views I have no problem if he is one of our future leaders of our country. His plan after high school is to serve in the U.S. Air Force. Eve also has another son, Zack, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army.
Jerry also took us on a tour of old town Waxahachie and the courthouse he had worked in when he was a sheriff's deputy, before he became a deputy U.S. marshal.

One of the most fascinating details of the courthouse are the carving of faces at each corner of the building. The history of the carving is too long to write so I've added a link, I think you'll find the story behind the faces quite interesting.
Not only did Jerry and his family provide a place for us to stay, they also provided some great meals and company.
Our last evening Eve and Steve prepared a fantastic meal.
Slow cooked all day, tri-tips and a load of side dishes.
Every meal was followed by dessert.
