Issue #24 -- Louisiana Beauty - Part II

Our visit with Nicole and Rick was a short one, but due to their extreme knowledge of Louisiana's history we were able to see quite a lot.  Our next stop was an airboat tour on the Atchafalaya Wilderness also known as the Atchafalaya Basin Swamp.

Along the shores of the Basin Swamp there are several homes and houseboats, but as you travel the waters you will also see camps that appear to be abandoned.

Basin Landing and Marina, family owned and operated, offers boat touring and camping destinations. They are located in the heart of the Atchafalaya Basin Swamp.  We've been on several airboat tours, but this was one of the best.  Our tour ran close to two hours and the swamp waters and wildlife, within the swamp, were fantastic.

If it's gators you want to see, then this is the place to be!

After touring the Basin the guide takes you to an area where the gators are ready for some treats.

After hours on the water, it's time for lunch.  Let's head to Pat's Fisherman's Wharf.

The food was fabulous!

After some down time at the RV Resort we headed to a beautiful Plantation in the Natchitoches Parish of Louisiana, the Melrose Plantation. Taking the self guided tour, we found the grounds to be beautiful.  We also enjoyed a tour of the house as well. We hope you enjoy the photos.

Not sure what Nicole is looking at??
